From March 20 to 22, 2026, Gamescom LAN in Cologne became the stage for a unique community-driven event: “The Nest.” A group of 14 well-known German female streamers – known as the “Motherbirds” – came together to create a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.
Supported by Xbox Game Pass as the main sponsor, the project gave the creators access to a wide variety of games, allowing them to play, explore, and share new experiences throughout the three-day event.
As the “Motherbirds,” the streamers formed the core of “The Nest” – a symbolic home for gaming, exchange, and collaboration. The focus went far beyond just playing games: it was about connection, mutual support, and fostering an open and inclusive gaming community.
With the help of Xbox Game Pass, the participants were able to seamlessly switch between different titles, discover new games, and share these moments live with their communities. This variety created dynamic and engaging streams, offering both the creators and their audiences a diverse and interactive experience.
A key highlight of the event was the strong involvement of the community. Viewers had the opportunity to actively participate, play alongside the streamers, and engage with them directly. This created a lively and authentic exchange, turning “The Nest” into a true shared experience.
“The Nest” stands for connection, creativity, and the growing presence of women in the gaming space. New friendships were formed, existing ones were strengthened, and a welcoming environment was created for everyone involved.
This project showcased how gaming can bring people together – both online and in real life.
